Owner: Jayson Camp
Location: Vancouver, Wash.
Dog Name: Timber
Age: 1
Breed: "Gerberian Shepsky" (German Shepherd–Siberian Husky mix)
Job Title: If we had to give Timber a job title, it would be either singer, musician or drama queen. He howls (beautifully, might I add) just like a real wolf, he sings along when I play my guitar, and he whines constantly for attention.
Favorite Treat: Timber’s favorite treats are “mammoth bones” (cow femurs). He buries pieces of them to save them for later and works on them for hours at a time.
Favorite Activity: Timber loves to go for walks. Comically, he decides when he’s done walking, however. He flops himself down and refuses to walk back. I’ve had to carry him back to the car on more than one occasion.
Forgivable Flaw: Timber loves to take his water dish out into the backyard and play with it or bury it. It makes for a frustrating time of refilling the dish for him.
Background Story: Timber was bred at a puppy mill to look like a wolf—he was to be sold as a “wolf-dog” hybrid for an exorbitant amount. We rescued Timber from the Humane Society in April 2020, when he was four months old, after he was saved from the puppy mill. We were told to expect Timber to be very timid and/or aggressive, and it actually seemed like they were trying to talk us out of rescuing him based on how much work they thought he’d be. We fell in love with Timber instantly. He perked up as soon as we got him home, and he’s been an incredible best friend ever since!
