Owner: Jeannice Middaugh
Location: Port Townsend, Wash.
Dog Name: Diego
Age: 14
Breed: Miniature Pinscher
Star Quality: He’s smart, has a large vocabulary and tips his head a bit when I raise my wineglass to toast to Mommy and Diego!
Favorite Activity: He loves to sit on the back of the couch waiting for the deer to roam by the house. When we are out walking, he doesn’t react to them at all. When he’s at the window and sees them, he goes nuts! All that exhausts him, so he goes to sleep at 4:30 every afternoon!
Forgivable Flaw: Alerting me to each and every bird, squirrel, walker, bike rider, car, truck and deer that passes by.
Background Story: Diego survived parvo as a puppy and went to live at a Min-Pin rescue until he was adopted. When his adoptive family realized he was too “energetic” and thought about returning him to the rescue, I offered to take him, because I was the only friend of theirs he didn’t bite and he was so happy when I’d come around. He came to live with me a little over 13 years ago! So a favorite toast I give is this: May you live forever and I never die!
