This week's Tasting Highlights showcases reds from Argentina, a leading wine-producing country. Here, the Mendoza province produces the most wine, featuring about 371,000 acres of vines on a high-elevation plateau. To the east of Mendoza are the Andes, which provide a rain shadow for the region, as well as rocky and sandy soils and a dry, almost dessert-like terroir suitable for grapegrowing.

Within Mendoza, the Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley subregions offer some of the finest expressions of Argentine Malbec. Luján de Cuyo is the source of the top scorer in this lineup, the 91-point, $32 Bodega Luigi Bosca Malbec Luján de Cuyo De Sangre 2022. Founded in 1901 by Leoncio Arizu, and now led by the third generation of the Arizu family, Bodega Luigi Bosca uses grapes from vineyards throughout the flatlands of Luján de Cuyo for this bottling, which is lush and generous with berry preserve notes.

This lineup also includes the Viña Cobos Malbec Luján de Cuyo Bramare 2022, a generous red wine with vanilla, cocoa and plum notes. Read on to get our score and full tasting note for this Argentine Malbec and seven others.
