What in the world hasn’t Dolly Parton done? The legendary singer, songwriter and actor is beloved for hits such as “I Will Always Love You,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “Jolene,” and for her starring roles in 9 to 5, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and other films. She’s also one of the country’s most visible philanthropists; her Imagination Library has gifted over 250 million books to children across the globe.
Last but not least, Parton is an entrepreneurial force. Her Dollywood business empire extends well beyond the East Tennessee theme park to encompass Doggy Parton, a dog clothing and accessories brand; baking mixes and perfumes; and a collaboration with Lodge, the cast-iron skillet maker.
Now, Parton plans to make her mark on the wine business. In June, she announced Dolly Wines, a collaboration with Parton Family Cellars and Accolade Wines, a large wine company based in Australia. The Dolly Wines California Chardonnay 2023 is now widely available at wine shops in the United States and on Vivino, where it retails for $17. The brand says the wine has “a vibrant pale lemon color with medium body, reminiscent of a morning sun in the Smoky Mountains.” The blue bottle features Parton’s beloved rhinestoned butterflies and her signature across the front.
This September, a French rosé and a Prosecco will be released in the United Kingdom. A fourth bottling, another sparkler, is also slated for fall release in Australia. While the Chardonnay is the only wine currently available in the U.S., the brand says the team has been “working 9 to 5 and 5 to 9 to launch other varietals in the U.S., with big dreams to debut Prosecco soon.”
Parton has said that while she doesn’t drink very much, she does enjoy a celebratory glass of wine every now and then. According to Accolade, the singer was involved in all aspects of making the wines, which are inspired by Parton’s “unwavering spirit of inclusivity” and “dedication to spreading joy and warmth.” They’re meant to be “easy-drinking, light-hearted and vibrant” and to bring people together.
